THE KNOW-HOW OF MIDA' AT THE SERVICE OF YACHT CONTRACT

Magnum Yachts are made in Miami and are known for their born in the Usa style. The refit, or restyling was performed by Midà on a Magnum Maltese Yacht 53, a 16-metre yacht that's over 30 years old. One of the fastest boats on the seas when she was built, it emerged recently from the boatyard of Matrix Marine Sarl in La Spezia. The project purpose is to maintain perfection, to keep a craft's engineering and equipment up to the latest standards.

Whitin the scope of a project commissioned by Matrix Marine's Aly Osman, and in partnership with yacht designers Edoardo Tonani and Leonardo Cozzi, Midà's Davide Picchetti was able to enhance the majestry of this 53-foot craft.

"Once Davide gets to work everything falls into place"

FUNCTIONALITY AND AESTHETIC IN A PERFECT UNION

Midà worked out a new location for a walk-in closet, in order to free up living space for the bedrooms and the two WCs. The structure removed also functioned as an interface between hull and deck, a problem solved by inserting new carbon beams. All furnishings were fully made by Midà, and free up space where such a feat might have seemed impossible. The walls of fine-veined oak wood panels are the dominant feature, which contrasts with the white enamelled ceilings and dark stained-oak furniture to create a clean, bright ambience that's both classical and contemporary. Fittings in stainless steel, white Corian and upholstery in tooled leather and artificial suede complete the look. The dinette now contains a retractable sofa bed that deploys using a simple sliding mechanism, and is perfect for extra guests or for transforming the space into a lounge.

BIG, PRACTICAL AND MECHANICALLY IMPROVED

The refit of the Magnum Maltese 53 also included the propulsion gear. Matrix Marine revamped the engines and realigned transmissions, it reduce vibration, increase safety and cut down on fuel consumption. All these mechanical improvements have resulted in an extra 14 knots of power, bringing the top speed to 46 knots, that's as fast as the most modern Magnum 63, only the length of the yacht remains the same.
